Profile of Bolivar
Profile
Bolivar is a Dutch warmblood stallion who was imported from Holland as a youngster by Faith Fessenden. His father is the famous jumper Saluut, descended from the prized Ramzes line. The Ramzes horses are known the world over for their jumping ability and are most often seen in the Holsteiner blood lines. When Bolivar was inspected as a young stallion, the Dutch jury encouraged a jumping career (even though Faith had imported him for dressage).
He was trained and shown by the best riders on the West Coast and was a Preliminary and Modified Open Jumper champion. After a few years of that, Faith decided to switch him back to dressage and within a year Bolivar was a USDF Horse of the Year Reserve Champion and USDF All Breeds Champion.
Bolivar came to live with us in 1997 and after getting acquainted with Gary went on to do wonderful things in dressage. He was shown FEI (all the while maintaining a full breeding book) and did very well both locally and nationally.
Bolivar has been a consistent producer of Premium foals when bred to thoroughbred mares. His Dutch offspring have also been highly placed and prized. Some of his older offspring are having successful show careers themselves in both jumping and dressage.
Bolivar loves to show, loves an audience and especially loves applause. He has tremendous presence in the ring. He has an especially lovely canter, exceptional conformation and a masculine personality. He has always drawn a crowd of spectators wherever we take him.
